In his 16 minute talk, Michael Shermer puts forth a brilliant psychological and evolutionary explanation for religion.  We were inspired to make it shorter and add multimedia.

Our “remake” attempts to say the same thing in 3.5 minutes with the addition of photos and video clips.

ATTENTION YOUTUBE CONTENT CREATORS

$40,000 in Foundation Grants Available!

Because we appreciate the good work you have been doing on YouTube, you are invited to submit an application / proposal to build your dream video.  Describe it to us and tell us how we can support you.

NaturalView’s mission is to be a resource for people re-evaluating or deconstructing their faiths away from a supernatural mindset to a natural worldview.

Leaving religion, or deconstruction, can be a painful process for believers since many have been indoctrinated as young children and churches have implanted notions that there are eternal consequences for those who no longer believe.  By doubting, questioning or leaving religion, one stands to lose family relationships, jobs and even marriages.  For those seeking truth, understanding and intellectual integrity, cognitive dissonance in leaving belief in their religion is real and painful.

Currently church congregations in the USA collect over $74 Billion annually.  Churches are well resourced to continue propagating their messages of memes and misinformation.

Our mission is to assist and support relevant and talented YouTubers in the “Atheist Advocacy” space by incorporating existing software tools on personal computers that produce high production value video content.

Currently, YouTube has the majority of atheist related content which is dominated by “talking head” formats that focus on specific religion objection areas.  We would like to see more stand-alone videos that make the case for a natural worldview.  We envision lively, engrossing multimedia formats which include video scenes, charts, graphs and text overlays with background music.

Audacious Goal:

Our audacious goal is to create “silver bullet” presentations that make the case for a non-supernatural worldview in less than 10 minutes.  Multiple segments may be needed to complete an easy assimilation of the full flowchart of your ideas.

  • It would grab the attention of both believers and de-constructing believers alike.
  • It would present a framework to view the world that offers rationality, scientific / historical legitimacy and comfort to those deconstructing their faiths.
  • It would provide easily agreeable steps to get out of belief to disbelief.  We recognize that some people will click away but we want to optimize the number of people who continue to view the presentation.
  • It would take a fundamentalist Christian to a significant level of cognitive dissonance and mental discomfort resulting from seeing contradictory information to their thinking. In other words, It might shake their faith.
  • It would induce a believer into considering and seeking alternative explanations of life and existence after reviewing a video once or a few times.
  • Serve as a “reverse alternative” to the Gospel Message – perhaps directly refuting it.
